In the fast few weeks I started to think of how music makes me feel in relation to the different fabrics that we wear everyday. It led me to create these interesting set of mixes that I felt fit the kind of fabric represented. The first one is called VELVET, which is a mix of old and new, a lot of hard hitting stuff in here as well as some smoother cuts with appearances from Anderson .Paak, Sango, Ari Lennox, Erykah Badu, Brent Faiyaz, Lucky Daye and many more. As a fan of Odd Future, when Syd and Matt got together to form “The Internet” in 2011 they dropped the trailer for their debut album "Purple Naked Ladies", I became an instant fan. The chords, melodies and amazing records that they did back then were ahead of their time. Fast forward a few years and after countless shows, band members and year later I’m so proud of them finally getting the recognition they rightfully deserve.
With their new album Hive Mind on it’s way soon I went in and whipped up a little something reflecting back on all of their work and picked out a bunch of my favorites, remixes and rarities from their catalogue of the last 7 years back when it was just Matt & Syd making the music. I FINALLY made the decision to attend Tyler's "Camp Flog Gnaw" carnival/festival held at Exposition Park this year and it was an interesting experience to say the least. Here are some photos that I was able to get from the festival.
